Replaced Discoloration MacBook Casing
Update 13 March 2007 23:43
Well well well… disappointment disappointment, the cover case started to turn into yellowish. It seem like replace new case doesn’t solve my Macbook Discoloration problem. Very very very disappointed with the MacBook I got, I should get the Black MacBook if I know the problem still haven’t resolve until now.
How many time do I have to replace the damn cover?
I went to replace my MacBook discoloration case today. Let’s see how long would it last this time.
Update:
Well, it seem the replaced casing is different with the case I got out of the box. The surface is smoother and it seem to solve discoloration issue. I shouldn’t make early judgment, let see what happen until next week.
It seem like it also improve the heat on the surface of the cover, now is less heat compare with last time.
But I am wonder why I got the defect unit at the first place?

I am having the exact same problem. Got a new Macbook (in the US), had the bezel replaced for the yellowing and the supposedly “new” replacement plastic started to yellow after 1-1.5 weeks of use. I tried to clean it off with a damp cloth but it’s of no use. And it’s yellowing in precisely the same spot (right palm rest) and in the same shape/pattern. Ugh.

Update: I have now replaced my upper case bezel in the US 2 times (i.e. it’s the 3rd top case) and each replacement turns yellow in precisely the same spot and exhibiting exactly the same shape. The newer bezel took 1 month, rather than 2 weeks as previously to turn yellow. When it gets bad enough, I will return to Apple for the 3rd replacement. Since I am on Apple Care, I will simply keep having them do it. It is ridiculous. And it is not due to sweat or oil or anything. I use a mouse! It is definitely heat. It’s very irritating since I keep my electronics clean and shiny like new.
