Servers Uptime. More Than 356 days, 1 Year Old

Phew, time flies… I’ve been working with AIMS for more than a year, looking back on the 2 FreeBSD servers (5.4 latest at that time) I setup when I first came in, the uptime is 1 year old now. To be frank, I never have any servers hold more than 365 days uptime.

Mail Relay Server

Mail relay server, powered by exim

9:54AM up 490 days, 18:46, 1 user, load averages: 0.10, 0.04, 0.01

Nagios & Smokeping

Another server is running Nagios and Smokeping.

9:58AM up 404 days, 21:56, 1 user, load averages: 1.16, 1.04, 1.02

Voila! Hope I can see 800 days next year :D

Damn… u never patch your servers.

  2. takizo Says:

Dude we patch it every week. Depend on what apps you running, not necessary to do restart after patching.

  3. chfl4gs_ Says:

True. Only a handful of patches required system root, IIRC, i.e. kmem disclosure in firewire stuff that is not common for server.

  4. takizo Says:

I see what u mean, kernel patching!
